STUDENT ACTIVITIES LEARNING OUTCOMES
Goals, Objectives and Outcomes – 2006-2007
Goal One: To develop programming that enhances the student experience.
- Advise student leaders using the challenge and support model.
- Student leaders will become more autonomous through their leadership experiences.
- Student leaders will increase their learning through their work in groups (e.g. conflict resolution, group dynamics, communication).
- Student leaders will participate in ethical decision making.
- Student leaders will increase their leadership and programming skills (e.g. budgeting, promotion, assessment, planning).
- Students will develop meaningful relationships.
- Educate first-year students regarding issues surrounding the transition to college.
- Students will increase their knowledge of the risks associated with high-risk drinking.
- Students will increase their knowledge about support services available on campus.
- Students will increase their understanding of the environmental, cultural, and personal risk factors associated with sexual assault.
- Students will understand the importance of involvement and link to successful college transition, success and persistence.
- Students will be able to recognize and articulate strategies for balancing their academic, co-curricular, work, social, and personal lives.
- Students will make connections with faculty, staff, administrators and other students in order to increase matriculation and satisfaction.
- Provide opportunities for a vibrant and active campus community
- Students will be aware of the student clubs and organizations that are available on campus.
- Students will be introduced to and learn about the academic, service, career, and social opportunities available to them in Cleveland.
- Students will be introduced to the campus traditions at JCU.
- Students will have the opportunity to meet other students and make connections in both formal and informal ways.
Goal Two: To encourage civic engagement though the promotion of leadership development and service opportunities.
- Infuse the John Carroll University mission into leadership and service opportunities for student leaders.
- Students will understand and celebrate diversity and inclusiveness.
- Students will understand what it means to be a servant leader.
- Students will understand the concept of social justice.
- Students will develop core competencies based on the social change model.
- Provide opportunities for community service during the first year experience.
- Students will be able to articulate/recognize the university's Jesuit mission.
- Students will have the opportunity to “live the mission” early in their college career.
- Students will be aware of the opportunities on and off campus to get involved in service and social justice.
- Foster a spirit of independence and interdependence among students.
- Student organization collaboration with programming will increase.
- Students will learn how to empower each other to accomplish their goals.
- Students will hold each other accountable for fulfilling their leadership roles.
