Information Provided:
Student's demographic and background characteristics, and perceptions of campus climate issues and policies regarding alcohol and other addictive substances.  
Data Collected:
Data collected provide information about student alcohol and other drug usage, as well as student's attitudes, perceptions, and opinions about alcohol and other drugs.

Parent/Student Normative Survey

Information Provided:
Student usage of alcohol, tobacco, and drug, parental perception of their son/daughter usage of alcohol, drug, and tobacco, student behaviors (i.e., poor academic performance, got into argument) resulting from alcoholic consumption, student and parental perceptions of alcohol, drug, and tobacco consumption of current John Carroll students
Data Collected:
Aggregate data collects information from parents and students during summer orientation session.  This student survey provides data about the frequency and level of alcoholic consumption of incoming students and information about the frequency of certain behaviors students engage in as a consequence of alcohol.  The parental survey provides information about their perceptions of their son/daughter’s alcohol, drug, and tobacco consumption within the past year and gauges parent’s perception of alcohol, drug, and tobacco usage of current JCU students.  This type of information can be used to develop effective alcohol and drug programs for current students and to better understand student attitudes towards these substances

National College Health Assessment (NCHA)

Information Provided:

The NCHA helps to identify common risks to academic performance and retention, aids in understanding student health trends and determining the health areas of highest priority.  The survey also highlights campus behavioral norms, and may be helpful in providing new information which may potentially be used in designing new health programs and evaluating current strategies

Data Collected:

The survey provides data related to students' habits, behaviors, and perceptions on the most prevalent health topics:  alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use;

sexual health; weight, nutrition, and exercise; mental health; injury prevention; and personal safety, and violence.
