To endow the university's capability to stay abreast of rapid change
in technology as it impacts education, we seek to establish a $20
million Technology and Facilities Fund through that part of the campaign
that encourages graduates and friends to supplement their outright
support with planned gifts—commitments in the form of wills and charitable
trusts.
While John Carroll is currently considered competitive with other
universities in the area of technology, we have much more to accomplish
in order to take full advantage of the benefits that the computer
age has brought to instruction, research and communication.
We plan to integrate Internet and cable access in a way that leads
to a more effective use of multimedia tools in teaching and allows
us to incorporate technology into the curriculum as a new academic
discipline. No less important a goal is to provide faculty the resources
required to incorporate technology intocourse content and into the
overall curriculum. Hence the establishment in 2000 of the Faculty
Technology Innovation Center.
