Construction of Don Shula
Stadium at Wasmer Field replaces an aging facility with one that instantly
becomes a nationally recognized venue for college athletics. As Al
Lerner, late owner of the Cleveland Browns and chairman of MBNA, declared
at the announcement ceremony on June 15, 2002, "No one has the name
you have."
Don Shula Stadium not only serves participants in seven varsity
sports and five club sports -- but also benefits all sports at JCU.
The locker rooms and coaches offices that are part of the stadium
complex enable the university to make more effective use of the facilities in the Tony
DeCarlo Varsity Center.
Crowning the home grandstand, the Founders Suite provides an exciting
new location for conferences and celebrations of all kinds. |
