Dr.
Karen Gygli,
Professor
Dr.
Karen Gygli, Professor, teaches theatre, as well as directs and
supervises theatre productions at JCU. She received her B.A.
from Ohio Dominican College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. from Bowling
Green State University.
Dr.
Gygli directed Marvin's Room in the fall of 2000, Anna Deavere
Smith's Twilight, Los Angeles, 1992 in the Spring of 2000
and Ken Ludwig's Lend Me a Tenor in the fall of 1998, all
at JCU. Recently, Dr. Gygli directed the world premiere of
Communications colleague, Nancy Kiefer s drama, The Eighth Order.
She
also directed Eight Impressions of a Lunatic, an original
script by local playwright Sarah Murton, and A Clue in the Old
Birdbath, a musical Nancy Drew spoof, for Red Hen Productions,
and has received warm reviews in the Plain Dealer, The
Scene, and The Free Times.
In
November of 1998, she led an acting workshop at the Real Escuela
Superior del Arte Dramatico in Madrid, Spain.
In
the summer of 2000 she directed a staged reading of Faye Sholoton's,
The Good Times as part of Dobama's Owen Kelly Adopt-a-Playwright
staged reading series. She has enjoyed doing pre-show talks
for the Great Lakes Theatre Festival, most recently for Twelfth
Night.

Mr.
Keith Nagy,
Adjunct
Assistant Professor
Keith B. Nagy-Adjunct Assistant Professor/Producing
Director of Theatre, Teaches Introduction To Theatre, Play
production, Scenic and Lighting Design and History of the Theatre.
Prior to his start here at John Carroll he was Director of Production
and Resident Designer for Cleveland Opera for over 15 years.
He has designed sets, lights and props for over 20 Opera companies
all over the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. He has
also designed Operas, Theatre and Ballet all over Northeast Ohio
and currently serves as Resident Designer for Great lakes
Ballet Festival and Lakeland Community College Theatre.
His work has included over 25 years
of Opera, Ballet, Movies, Live Theatre and Industrial Shows.

Professor Nagy
is a member of United Scenic Artists local #829 and the former Vice
Chair and Chair for U.S.I.T.T. (United States Institute for
Theatre Technology)-. Ohio Valley Region and serving on local and
national committees for the institute.
Professor Nagy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from
California State Polytechnic University and his MFA (Master fo Fine
Arts ) in Production Design from Ohio University in
Athens, Ohio.
