Participants will explore the challenging issue of professional boundaries. Emphasis will be placed on helping the participant think about how boundary issues are handled at their unique settings. Guidelines for supervisors will be suggested. Opportunities for discussion and case consultation will be welcomed.
Paula Britton, Ph.D., P.C.C. is a John Carroll University faculty member, and coordinates the graduate level internship in the Community Counseling Program. She is currently supervising both P.C.C. and psychology student assistants and has been involved in clinical work in agencies and private practice as a psychologist for over fifteen years.

Participants will:
- Understand the scope of the problem of unethical practice in the financial domain with special attention to confidentiality, consent, diagnosis, and record keeping
- Appreciate their duties when colleagues act unethically or are at risk for doing so
- Become familiar with statements in the Codes of Ethics and State of Ohio regulations governing payment and colleagues
- Learn strategies for responsible management of confidentiality, consent, diagnosis, and records in this context
- Apply these standards and recommendations to case examples
Elizabeth Reynolds Welfel, Ph.D is a Professor at Cleveland State University who has been teaching graduate students in counseling and counseling psychology for more than 20 years. She is Co-Director of Training in Counseling Psychology in the Ph.D. program in Urban Education. She has authored numerous articles on the ethics of professional practice and her book, Ethics in Counseling and Psychotherapy: Standards, Research and Emerging Issues, is in its third edition. Dr. Welfel received her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1979 and has been a licensed psychologist in Ohio since 1986.

Certificates of Attendance Policy
The various licensing boards and credentialing organizations prohibit the
awarding of certificates of attendance until the workshop presentation has
been completed. After the close of the workshop, certificates of attendance
will be awarded. Participants who leave the workshop before its completion
may sign out noting their time of departure. Your certificate will be
mailed to you with the clock hours adjusted accordingly. A certificate of
attendance will not be awarded if a participant who must leave early and
fails to sign out.
*Certificate of attendance will not be
issued until registration fees are paid. If an agency is paying, the agency
must give instructions for payment or enclose a check with registration.
Ohio
Psychological Association (OPA)
The OPA has approved our workshops for continuing education credit and
requires that you must attend the workshop in its entirety in order to
receive credit. NO PARTIAL CREDIT WILL BE AWARDED. Certificates will be
available only after the close of the workshop and must be picked up by
participants.
Full payment must be received with
registration in order to receive your CEU certificate at the time of the
workshop. If you wish to pay at the workshop, you will receive your
certificate in the mail after payment has been made. Full refunds will be
made with a 72-hour notification of cancellation. Otherwise you will
receive a non-refundable credit good towards any other workshop.
