BETA CHI:  GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES FOR 11/13/04

 

I.          Canned Food Drive

  • The canned food drive will be extended until Christmas break.
  • Cans will be collected by Beta Chi members in classes or can be dropped off at Dr. Faiver’s office or Paula Britton’s office.

 

II.        Induction Ceremony

  • Date is tentatively set for Fri. 4/29/05.  Need to see if Jardine Room is available that day.
  • Schedule: 5:30- hors dourves, 7:30- closing.
  • Cost will be $15 per person.
  • We need to find a speaker.  Susan will contact Christi Berardinelli and invite her to speak (possibly on psychotropic meds with children).  Timia Del Prete-Brown is also a possibility.
  • Need to order Plaques from Gino’s Jewelers.
  • Will consult last years menu for food, and order it.
  • Need to get program done.  Susan will do.
  • Julie will send out invitations to join Beta Chi in early Jan. 
  • Invitations to attend the Induction Ceremony will be sent out at the end of Mar.
  • Deadline to apply for Scholarship or new officers is Fri. 4/1/05.  Candidates will make 5 min. speeches and people will vote at the Induction Ceremony.  Past Beta Chi presidents will vote on who will get the scholarship.

 

III.       Internship Panel

  • Tentatively set for Wed. 2/23/05, Matt will call Joan to have her reserve the room.
  • Need to ask students in practicum/internship to speak at the panel.
  • People who have offered to speak:  Matt (Cleveland Clinic), Susan (Laurelwood), Julie (Baldwin Wallace Counseling Center).
  • Only students will attend, no professors.
  • Susan will do flyer.

 

IV.       Awards

  • Application is due 12/1/04.  Molly Barnard is chair.
  • Need more members for committee to help?
  • We are applying for Best Chapter and Best Program.
  • We need recommendation letters from professors.

 

V.        Walk

  • Tentatively set for some time in Apr.
  • Walkers will pay a flat fee of $10-15 per person, or sponsors can donate money.
  • Morgan will find a date for the walk.
  • Refreshments will be served.

 

VI.       Treasurer’s Report

  • Matt will attend ACA conference in Atlanta, GA.
  • Julie will report on how much money is available to reimburse Matt for trip, then members will vote on amount of money to reimburse.
