Position:                Specimen Preparation Assistant

Description:  Sort museum insect specimens, create labeling for specimens and storage units, periodically examine collections to ensure no specimens are lost to pests, humidity and other factors.  Training in insect handling and identification will be given.

Hours Available:   Flexible, can be discussed.     

Requirements:      .Biology major, junior of senior, underclassmen will be considered.

Rate of Pay:          $9.00/hr

Position:                Computer Assistant

Description:       The job will consist of entering specimen data onto databases and/or spreadsheets, entering field data from studies for analysis and maintaining departmental web page.  Training on specific software will be given.

Hours Available:   Flexible, can be discussed.    

Qualifications:     proficient with IBM format, and familiarity with MS Office software. 

Requirements:      .Biology major or Computer Science major

Rate of Pay:          $9.00/hr

Position:                Summer Field Assistant

Description:       Assist Curator, graduate students and museum staff participating in field studies of insect ecology.  Sort and prepare specimens obtained during field work and maintain field equipment.

Hours Available:   Will be discussed, but must be willing to work long hours, occasionally.    

Requirements:      .Biology major, Juniors or Seniors preferred, underclassmen will be considered.

Position:                Off-Campus Reading Tutor

Description:           Assist in the tutoring of reading skills to children 
                              of eastside elementary schools. 1st to 3rd grade students.

Hours Available:    Opportunities are available, 4 days a week mornings and/or afternoons.

                             Flexible Hours (9:00-3:00)  Please stop in to verify hours.

                             Van transportation available.

Qualifications:       Must have interest in working with young children in 1st grade to third grade students.

Requirements:       Must be eligible for specific funds for Financial Aid. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors

Rate of Pay:          $9.00/hr

Position:                Archaeology Lab Assistant

Description:  Assist curator and department staff in inventory, and analysis of prehistoric specimens from Northeast Ohio.    Learn proper curation techniques and gain experience in presentation and exhibits for public information about current research projects.

Hours Available:   Flexible, can be discussed. 

Qualifications:     Communications or Marketing experience preferred.

Requirements:      Experience with computer databases and word processing preferred.

Rate of Pay:          $9.00/hr

Position:                Marketing/Communications Assistant

Description:  Assistant to Marketing/Communications Officer, responsibilities include keeping the public informed of programs and research in   the natural sciences as well as conservation and preservation.  The job also includes learning to draft press releases and public service announcements, through web submission.  Also, you will be conducting research, interviewing staff and assisting on community activities. 

Hours Available:   Flexible, can be discussed. 

Qualifications:     Communications experience preferred.

Requirements:      Should be responsible, flexible, like detail work, able to work with a variety of people, and also have skills in writing and computers.

Rate of Pay:          $9.00/hr
