1. 'Don't look now, you BC Eagles, there are Blue Streaks in the house'
=================================================
That was the buzz last evening (Nov 9) at The Boston College Club back East as John Carroll alumnae, alumni and friends gathered to greet fellow triumphant Red Sox fan, Rev. Edward Glynn SJ, President of JCU, and to meet Rev. Timothy T. Shannon SJ, our new Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, along with Ryan Daly '99, our new Director of Alumni Relations.

2. Alumni receptions continue in Chicago, Washington DC areas
=================================================
Next Tuesday (Nov 16) it's Chicago's turn. Hosts John '56 and Mary Jo
Boler welcome JCU alumni and friends at the University Club (76 East
Monroe St) for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres from 6-8 pm. Father Ed Glynn will
introduce Father Tim Shannon. Then on Sunday (Dec 12) Washington DC area alums
will wend their way to the Alexandria (VA) home of Stanley ’58 and Linda
Glod to celebrate Mass with Father Shannon and enjoy lunch afterward.
For more information on the alumni receptions, contact Ryan Daly at 800.736.ALUM

"There is no comparison. They're the most well informed group that has ever come
into this office." Speaking was Steve Smith, a government official of the United
Kingdom Secretary of State's Office for Northern Ireland, in response to a question
by Campus Ministry's Dan Bizga '92 on how the JCU students, fresh
from their tour of the troubled province, compared with other student visitors.
You may have read about it in the most recent issue of John Carroll Magazine,
but now you can hear Bizga describe that "Aha!" moment, and listen to the insights
of one of those impressive Carroll students, Frank DeJulius '07.

9. Memorable
=================================================
When a person first met Jack Hissong '52 the initial reaction
(mine, anyway) was to be thankful you weren't opposing attorneys in a courtroom
battle. With that penetrating gaze Jack could look absolutely fierce -- but his
appearance belied a gentle and spiritual nature that was only perfected by his
steadfast devotion to the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius. Our thoughts
and prayers are with his wife Elizabeth, who survives him with their children,
as he fulfills the promise of the exercises.
