1. New JCU web look focuses on important messages
=================================================

Click here to visit www.jcu.eduYou may have noted the new look to the JCU home page. It's the effort of our new web developer, Tom Fulton, to make information more accessible and to highlight messages of particular importance such as those posted this week dealing with the university's response to reports of incidents involving sexual offenses. For a statement issued by Student Affairs Vice President Patrick Rombalski, see Update on Incidents at JCU. Then read the followup message from Coordinator of Developmental Programming John Harshbarger, PhD.

2. 'Tis the season to gather together
=================================================

Santa and friendThe holiday season is the time for getting together with friends, like the many who graduated together from John Carroll. Most recent of these gatherings was Breakfast with Santa which followed Mass with Casey Bukala '54 SJ last Sunday (Dec 5) on campus.

Father Bukala and his jolly old friend will touch their sleigh down in Chicago this Sunday (Dec 12) for Mass and Breakfast (Loyola University's Water Tower Campus - Kasbeer Hall – 15th Floor) at 10:30 am. (Besides a multitude of glowing smiles from True Believers, these classic Christmas occasions yield plenty of donated gifts for needy children as well as meals for needy families.)

Later that same day (Dec 12) at the Alexandria (VA) home of Stanley '58 and Linda Glod, DC area alums will celebrate Mass with Development and Alumni Relations Vice President Timothy T. Shannon SJ. Next week -- on Wednesday (Dec 15) -- alums living in and around Columbus (OH) will meet in front of the home of Marty Connell '87 (6119 Ashtree Place) at 7 pm for their own Christmas Carroll evening mid-Ohio style.

Getting together at the alumni reception in Boston recently were Katie Kwast and Christian Hedrick '97, Rev. Timothy T. Shannon SJ and Tim Hanchin '97.Bridget Chambers '97 chatted with Father Ed Glynn at the Boston alumni reception.These events are sure to produce mini-reunions, like those that occurred when alums welcomed the annual pre-Thanksgiving Mass and Breakfast back to campus on Sunday (Nov 21) and when alums in Chicago and Boston joined our president, Edward Glynn SJ, Father Shannon and their colleagues for receptions in those cities.

As classes from the years ending in "0" and "5" make their plans for Reunion 2005 (Jun 17-19), these meetings, whether in person or by telephone conference, also turn into mini-reunions. To join your classmates in time for the next one, contact Rosalie Massey by phone (216.397.3014) or e-mail.

=================================================

Fast-forward to April 14, 2005 ... You're finally wrapping up your income tax return ... but if you only had one more item to reduce your tax liability! And then your eyes fall on that invitation from JCU to "share the experience ... share the tradition."Drat! If I had only sent in a gift to the Annual Fund" -- But, wait, you were only dreaming. It's still December. See? Scrooge is gleefully sending the young lad to fetch the turkey. And you still have time to consider a gift to the Annual Fund. Director Bob Kirschner is standing by to take your calls (216.397.4198) and e-mails. You can also register your gift online.

4. Attention fans of the Bills (Browns, Steelers, too)

NFL Middle Linebacker London Fletcher '98 with Meet the Press Moderator Tim Russert '71NFL Middle Linebacker London Fletcher '98 met briefly with Meet the Press Moderator Tim Russert '71 prior to a Buffalo Bills game last year. This season JCU students and alums have two more exellent opportunities to see Fletcher play at Ralph Wilson Stadium -- as the Bills host the Cleveland Browns this Sunday (Dec 12) and the Pittsburgh Steelers in 3 weeks (Jan 2). For details on the special JCU offer, contact Chris Costanzo '99 at the Bills' ticket office by phone (toll-free 1.877.BB.TICKS x 8912) or e-mail.
