1. One more race this weekend for Fernandez, McConville
The
2004-05 academic year may have officially ended, but returning All-Americans
Ellie Fernandez and Shannon McConville will don the Blue&Gold one more time
for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships at Wartburg College in
Waverly IA. Fernandez will race in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase today
(May 27) at 5:20 pm local time; McConville will compete in the women's 5,000
meter run tomorrow afternoon. For more information, including a
link where you can follow their progress, visit Varsity
Athletics.
2. Hear highlights from Alumni Awards presentation & Commencement
Anyone
searching for inspiration in these uncertain times could have found it in abundance
at John Carroll last weekend (May 20-22). It began Friday evening with the Alumni
Awards Dinner and concluded Sunday with Commencement exercises, where Bruce
Thompson '43 and John Kleinhenz SJ '41 took their places of honor with other
alumni from the classes of 1933-1955. Click on the picture to see the rest of
the image. Then listen to highlights on the JCU website for both the Awards
Dinner and Commencement.
3. Saying good-bye to John Gladstone, Joe Whelan '65

After
15 years at the university, during which he became Associate Academic Vice President
for Enrollment Services, John Gladstone departs to become President of Jesuit
High School in Portland OR. Joe Whelan’s connection to John Carroll goes back
40 years to his days as a student. The Director of Student Services in the Department
of Education & Allied Studies will become a senior consultant for a company
that provides professional education to school superintendents, principals and
teachers across the country. For more information, see the May issue of @JCU,

4. Last call for Annual Fund giving & Reunion 2005
