Ride for Miles
More than 400 riders participated in the 2nd annual Ride For Miles, Saturday, Sept. 12, a memorial event honoring beloved JCU professor, cyclist, and environmentalist, Miles Coburn, Ph.D.
The 15-mile, noncompetitive bicycle ride from John Carroll University through several eastern suburbs and back, raises funds for the John Carroll University Biology Department's Miles Coburn Environmental Symposium. The four-day symposium carries on Prof. Coburn’s efforts to educate students and the community about the urgency of environmental activism. Guest speakers this year were from Cleveland’s Green City/Blue Lake; Great Lakes Brewing Company; Zoo Atlanta; and Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Ride for Miles is a nonprofit organization established by family, friends, and colleagues of Prof. Coburn to educate people about the environment and bicycle safety.
