2009 SUMMER HIRES
Guidelines for Hiring Student Summer Employees
The following guidelines have been designed to assist in the employment of JCU students for the summer season. Students are permitted to work May 17, 2009 through August 22, 2009.
There are two major changes for this year’s student summer employment program:
- A more robust justification process including not only why this hiring is necessary, but also what would be the impact if the hiring was not approved.
- All requests for summer employment must be approved in advance by the appropriate division Vice President or Dean.
- The amount requested must not exceed the budgeted amount for the department.
- Please forward all completed and signed forms to the Office of Human Resources.
- All student summer employees must be registered for the 2009 Fall Semester at John Carroll University.
- New student employees cannot work if required documentation has not been completed (Background investigation, I9, Federal & State Tax Forms and bank routing/account numbers for direct deposit).
- Pay will not be generated if these forms have not been completed.
- The wage rate for 2009 is $7.30 per hour for first time employees or those who are not returning to the same department; $7.75 for employees returning to the same department as last year.
If your department is hiring several new employees, and you would like Human Resources to assist you in the process please feel free to contact Pat Thompson at extension 1726; or if you have any questions.
Any exceptions to this guideline must be obtained in advance from the President or a Divisional Vice President. |
