CLUB SPORTS
WHAT THEY ARE
Club Sports at JCU are student organizations that compete against other universities or town sponsored teams in an athletic related activity. JCU Club sports include rowing, men's and women's rugby and lacrosse, ice hockey, volleyball, skiing/snowboarding, sailing, and karate.
WHY THEY ARE
Club Sports constitute a great opportunity for students to enhance their classroom learning and to develop their leadership skills. Through this enhanced learning and leadership development, students who are involved in student activities learn to integrate the experiences and knowledge of the classroom with everyday experiences of living and working in a society of people with various interests, ideas, and values.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
John Carroll University does not provide any state appropriated revenues to operate its Club Sports program. JCU Club Sports must operate on money that they get from the student activity fee, which goes to the Club Sports Council to allocate to the 10 clubs (approximately 25% of these fees go to four coaches to recruit for their sports). All teams must pay dues and fundraise for their sport, as none of the teams are fully funded.
