The Program

This program is designed for sophomores and juniors in the College of Arts & Sciences regardless of major, who wish to study in London. It is important to consult with an academic advisor to learn how the courses offered may count toward university core requirements, an academic major or general elective credit.

John Carroll University's program home in London in Huron University. a UK based, American University. Huron's campus overlooks Russell Square in the middle of Bloomsbury. For centuries, Bloomsbury has been at the academic and literary heart of central London. This area is home to London's oldest and largest concentration of universities.

Students may select 3 to 4 courses from among the non-business offerings at Huron University. Typical courses include:

* John Carroll University prerequisite for all Art History courses is AH 101.

Internships & Internship Scholarships/Fellowships

London is a truly global city- and so is the range of internship opportunities in non-profit organizations. Substitute an internship in a non-profit for one of your academic courses and work with others for the environment, human rights, health, or other causes. Your internship may be eligible for a JCU Belda Scholarship. Please contact Ms. Judith Aungst, Center for Career Services at x 4435 for further information regarding the Belda Scholarship. Internships require prior approval of your JCU academic advisor.

Living in London

Huron University's main residence hall is located at 1 Byng Place, just a 7 minute walk from the Huron campus. Byng Place is just across the street from the University of London Student Union (ULU) building and Waterstones bookshop (Europe's largest academic books specialist). The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) is a block away.

At Byng Place students live alongside Huron University students from all over the world. These are usually three to hour students per room; each room contains beds, study desk, and wardrobes. Some rooms contain private bathroom and toilet facilities; other rooms share other common facilities. Byng Place has full kitchen and laundry facilities, WiFi, audio-visual equipment and internet connected computers in the communal area. Grocery stores, pharmacies, cafes and restaurants, bookshops and public transport are easily accessible.

Financial Aid Information

Students are able to apply all their financial aid, with the exception of work-study, to the London Liberal Arts Program. This includes scholarships, federal and state aid. To learn how to take advantage of this opportunity, please consult with the Office of Financial Aid.

How to Apply

Admission to this program is based on academic standing, student maturity and order of deposit. The London Liberal Arts Program is highly competitive and may fill up early. It is the student's interest to apply as early as possible. Applications may be obtained from the Center for Global Education.
