Qualifications |
Full-time, matriculated, degree-seeking graduate student. Students interested in this position may have interest in Rehabilitation counseling, Special education and/or learning disabilities, and may have a theoretical interest in humanistic and existential theory. Experience in Higher Education is preferred. |

Reports to: Director of Services for Students with Disabilities
Description:
This individual will assist in the provision of services to students with disabilities. The GA will be responsible for determining reasonable accommodations (under supervision) and academic or other accommodations for students with disabilities. This person will be responsible for becoming proficient in the ADA as amended and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Direction and training will be provided.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate case files and completes relevant paperwork (session notes, Letters of accommodation)
- Conducts student intakes, reviews documentation of disabilities and completes Letters of Accommodation
- Meets with students in an `academic coach' role, encouraging better study/organizational skills and working on specific learning deficits
- Assists with exam set up/monitoring
- Coordinates non-academic accommodations such as special classroom furniture, housing needs, etc.
- Assists with training students on assistive and adaptive technology (will be trained to do so)
- Assists with website updates
- In the directors leave, GA will be called upon to act as the primary liason between faculty/staff/and registered students
- Performs administrative duties as needed (answering phone, taking messages, delivering tests)
