GRADUATE and ATHLETIC ASSISTANTSHIPS

Graduate and athletic assistantships are awarded competitively and offer remission of all tuition and fees (except graduation fee) plus a stipend. In return, graduate/athletic assistants are ordinarily expected to work for a department or team 20 hours weekly conducting research, teaching, or work related to the department/team. The term of the assistantship is one year and is normally renewed for a second year upon satisfactory performance, with the potential for a third year in certain programs.

Credentials to submit to the Office of Graduate Studies by the March 1 Deadline:

• Graduate Assistant Application [Word] [PDF] or
• Athletic Assistant Application [Word]

• Resume
• Statement of Purpose

• Two Letters of Recommendation with cover sheets (included in application packet)

Note: Students who require letter(s) of recommendation for their general application may use the graduate assistant recommendation letters for both. Letters of recommendation for the general application will only suffice for an athletic assistantship application not for a graduate assistantship application.

See the FAQ section for further information
