INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Welcome to the CAS Graduate Studies Application website. John Carroll University is committed to global education and it welcomes applications from international students. Our admissions staff is available throughout the year to assist you. Call us at (216) 397-4284 or e-mail us at gs_adm@jcu.edu

Before applying to John Carroll University, you must have completed the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor degree. Application requirements for admission to the CAS Graduate Studies programs are as follows:

  1. Completed application form. Apply online (if you do not have a social security number, fill that space in with xxx xx xxxx) or complete and send in application form
  2. The $35 non-refundable application fee. Payment for the application fee may be made by check in U.S. currency or international money orders. ***Application fees are waived for online application only.
  3. Official Transcripts from ALL colleges and universities previously attended. All transcripts from EVERY college and university must be evaluated by AACRAO and forwarded by the agency to John Carroll University office of Graduate Studies. You may contact AACRAO at www.aacrao.org for instructions. In addition, please have official transcripts, certificates and/or mark sheets sent directly from each college/university attended showing proof of degree(s) earned to the Graduate Studies office (photocopies are not accepted).
  4. TOEFL language test score.
    Minimum Scores
    Paper 550
    Computer 217
    Internet 79
    *scores are only good for two years
  5. Statement of Financial Resources form that verifies proof of financial support (sufficient funds to cover expenses for one full year - in US Dollars only) and supporting financial documentation indicating sources of funds while attending John Carroll University (such as a certified bank statement dated within 3 months).
  6. Additional requirements are specified by each department; please see detailed requirements and program description in the Graduate Studies Bulletin
  7. All documents submitted become the property of the university and cannot be returned.

[Scholarships/financial aid]

Tuition, room and board, and any associated fees for international students at John Carroll University is the same as for domestic students. Students who lack the means to cover these costs are encouraged to explore the possibility of applying for external  scholarships and loans.  The International Student Organization headquartered in New York also maintains a good list of scholarship sources that are worth exploring.
