Meet the New Graduate School Staff
Vivienne Porter
As the Graduate Admissions Counselor, Vivienne is responsible for recruiting new graduate students to the programs at John Carroll University. This involves travel to undergr4aduate universities and conferences, presentations to John Carroll classes, and visits to local school systems. Guiding interested students through the application process, connecting them to faculty, and responding to all email and phone inquires are part of her day.
Prior to coming to John Carroll University, Vivienne worked in graduate admissions at Case Western Reserve University and in sales for Unisys Corporation. She has a BS from Miami University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.

Birkenhauer Mentorship Award: Mary Matthews
Gail A. Moran MAIS'07 is the recipient of the Fall Semester 2006 Rev. Birkenhauer Mentorship Award. The award is given in recognition of outstanding scholarship and commitment to science education. Moran is mentoring in Life Science SI 550L with Dr. Olivia White. The awardee provides the primary instructor with information regarding equipment and supplies available to the middle grade teacher, labs and activities commonly carried out in the middle grade science classroom and insights into the nature of the middle grade student.
This award is funded through a generous contribution from John ('62) and Fran Smith of Glen Ellyn, IL in honor of Rev. Frank Birkenhauer S.J., an exemplary scientist, mathematician, teacher and friend.
