  • 14th Annual Beta Chi Wellness Conference:
    Please join us for the John Carroll University Beta Chi Chapter’s 14th Annual Wellness Conference on Friday, November 9th from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This year’s key note speaker will be Denise Ben-Porath, Ph.D., an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at John Carroll University. She will be presenting on Dialectical Behavior Parenting: Tools for Mental Health Practitioners Treating Families. The cost is $35 for students and you will receive 3 CEUs. To register, please contact the Continuing Education office at 216-397-3008.
  • Comps Spring ‘08
    Just a heads up that the Community Counseling Comps will be offered on a Saturday in April ’08…exact date and time to be announced. You must take and successfully pass your comprehensive exam before you can begin Internship class.
  • Practicum Orientation Night ‘08
    Dr. Paula Britton will be hosting a Practicum Orientation Night in February ’08 for students who plan to begin their Practicum during the Fall ’08 semester. Exact date and time will be posted in the near future. 
  • Studying for Comps or the State Licensure Exams?
    A new set of 18 CDs is available on reserve in the library for students studying for the Community Counseling Comprehensive Exam and the state licensure exams. Please see Jie Zhang, reference librarian, if you have any questions.
   

 

 

English:

  • Jonathan LaGuardia will be presenting at the November meeting of the Midwest Modern Language Assn here in Cleveland. His paper title is "The Pillowman and Representations of Violence in Contemporary Theatre." 
  • Nicole Adams presented her paper "Perceptions of Women in Gerald of Wales" at two conferences. One was the 3rd Medieval and Renaissance Studies Conference at Wake Forest University (April 21 2007). The second was at the Medieval-Renaissance Conference XXI at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise (Sept. 20-22 2007). At the November meeting of the Midwest Modern Language Assn meeting here in Cleveland, she will present her paper, "The Failed Mothers of Uncle Tom's Cabin."

The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization

  • The John Carroll chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization (CEO) welcomes graduate students for the first time into its ranks.  Five graduate students were inducted into the Organization on Friday, October 12, 2007.  Congratulations to Mary-Michelle Coleman, Michele Ford, Andy Guild, Joel Mullner and Adam Squicquero

    CEO is a selective group of John Carroll undergraduate and now graduate students, who are interested in, and ready to be involved in entrepreneurial ventures.  Its mission is “to inform, support and inspire college students to be entrepreneurial and seek opportunity through enterprise creation.”  CEO members enjoy automatic membership into JCU Entrepreneurs Association, providing valuable learning and networking opportunities for the future entrepreneur.
