  • Congratulations!!! The American Counseling Association (ACA) hosted their annual conference this year in Honolulu, Hawaii.   In addition to the conference festivities, Chi Sigma Iota- Beta Chi chapter at John Carroll was honored with an award Friday night of the conference.  Christian Karter, community counseling graduate student, accepted the award on behalf of Beta Chi.  The Outstanding Individual Program award was presented to Beta Chi for their 14th Annual Wellness Conference.
  • Beta Chi Updates: For the year of 2007 – 2008, Beta Chi just had a wonderful year.  Under the leadership of:

  • But now it is time for new leadership to bring in the year of 2008 – 2009 and also bring in the new members.  It is time for the Beta Chi Induction ceremony happening April 25, 2009 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Faculty Dinning Room.  We have the pleasure of having the honored speaker Dr. David Helsel, Coordinator of School Counseling.  We also have twenty-five new inductees this year.  At the induction we will highlight this year’s accomplishments and enjoy the giving of awards.  It stands to make for a wonderful evening.
  • Independent Study Update: My name is Melanie Faithwalker. I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Linda Quinn within the scope of an Independent Study.  In that Independent Study, I have been working on a Research manuscript.  I have presented this research in different arenas.  First, the AOCC Conference in Columbus as a Poster Presentation, the 14th Annual Wellness Conference in a Poster, The Celebration of Scholarship as a Panel Presenter, and now I am due to present in a Poster Presentation at the International Emotional Intelligence Convention in Chicago, July 1st 2008.  The name of the study is A Correlational  Study of the Relationship Between Sensation Seeking Behavior, Life Satisfaction, Emotional Intelligence, and Depression. Once again my advisor on this study has been Dr. Linda Quinn and without her expertise this study could have never made this far in the process.
