FRATERNITIES

Interfraternity Council (IFC)

OVERVIEW

Image of IFC Officers performing a skit, pretending to be Panhellenic officersWelcome to the Interfraternity Council (IFC) website! IFC is the governing body of the fraternities at John Carroll and is comprised of executive members and chairmen from each of the university's three fraternities. IFC is responsible for the promotion of scholarship, service, leadership, self-governance, risk management, and public relations among the fraternity chapters on campus. Moreover, IFC strives to develop unity between fraternities, realizing that we all share similar goals and a common sense of brotherhood. In addition to working with the individual chapters, IFC also works with the Student Union, fellow student organizations, and the John Carroll administration to promote Greek Life and provide social and educational programming for the entire Carroll community.

Image of Beta Theta PiBeta Theta Pi is dedicated to building men of principle for a principled life through lifelong devotion to intellectual excellence, high standards of moral conduct and responsible citizenship. The Fraternity has more than 120,000 living members including some 5,800 collegians on 119 campuses in the United States and Canada, and just recently expanded to the JCU campus in the fall of 2007. Beta has already made a big splash, named as the 2008 Greek Organization of the Year.

Beta stresses lifelong friendship, cultivation of the intellect, responsible leadership, responsible social conduct, and commitment to community through all of its activities. JCU initiated its founding fathers on January 13, 2008 and is now composed of 25 active members. Betas are widely known for their heavy involvement in campus activities. They engage the world by studying abroad and taking part in immersion experiences, give back to JCU through service, proudly represent the Blue Streaks on the athletic field, and hold some of the most high profile and coveted leadership positions on campus. Each fall, Beta Theta Pi sponsors "Carroll's Got Talent," a university-wide talent show for students and staff to benefit its philanthropy, the Center for Autism at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital.

Image of Delta Tau DeltaWe are men who define ourselves by our core values: Truth, Courage, Faith, and Power. We hold ourselves to the highest standard on campus, in the classroom, and in the community. We are always striving to improve ourselves as individuals and as a group. Delts are committed to being a positive influence on campus and living up to the John Carroll mission statement to be "a man for others."

As a fraternity we defy the stereotypical definition of fraternity life. Our foundation is built on our bonds of brotherhood which are strengthened by the work we do and the fun we have. We serve the community through our philanthropy, Adopt-A-School and with our contributions to The Labre Project. We also include the student body in our activities with our brotherhood and social events. We take pride in being apart of a respectable Greek Life Community at John Carroll and are committed to lives of excellence.
