What is Heartland-Delta?
From the first conference in 1994, the Heartland-Delta gathering has become an essential venue for dialogue and learning about Jesuit education, collaboration and Ignatian spirituality. Learn more about the history of Heartland-Delta.
Who will be attending Heartland-Delta V?
More than 400 faculty, administrators and staff will serve as delegates for 12 Jesuit colleges and universities in the Midwest and Delta regions (including St. John's College in Belize).
How does check-in work? Where will I be staying?
If you are an out-of-town delegate, you will receive a letter, confirming your room reservation on campus. Check-in for the conference will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29. Upon arriving in Cleveland, you should first check into your guest room. Your key and pertinent building information will be available in the lobby of your assigned residence hall. Following room check-in, please proceed to conference registration in the D.J. Lombardo Student Center, where you will receive your delegate packet, name badge and other materials for the gathering. Our John Carroll volunteers look forward to welcoming you and assisting you with the check-in and registration process.
Can I stay extra days before/after Heartland-Delta V?
It is possible for delegates to extend their stay before and after Heartland-Delta V. Room rates are $40/night for single occupancy. Guests wishing to extend their stay must pay for their own room costs or ask their college or university to make arrangements for them. If you are planning to extend your stay at JCU, please contact the Host Committee at (216) 397-6630 or email heartlanddelta5@jcu.edu on or before May 11.
How will local transportation be handled?
There will be bus transportation to and from the airport for those delegations arriving by air. The van/bus will drop your delegation off at the residence hall in which you will be staying. Information on where the van/bus will collect your delegation will be provided once arrival information becomes available. There will be bus transportation to and from the Presidents' Night Out and Reception for those delegations that do not have their own bus transport. The bus will pick up and return each delegation to its residence hall.
During the conference there will be courtesy vans and/or golf carts available to transport conference participants who require transportation to and from the various conference venues. In case of inclement weather, there will be shuttles available to transport conference participants from the residence halls to the morning sessions.
I have a car. Where do I park?
Delegates who are staying in a residence hall and have a vehicle that requires overnight parking may park anywhere on campus free of charge.

Will meals be provided?
Yes! Once the conference begins on Tuesday, all meals will be provided. Wednesday night each President will take his/her delegation to a local area restaurant for dinner followed by a dessert reception at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Friday is a departure day for many attendees, so the residence halls will provide portable breakfasts that can be taken to the plane or on the bus, if necessary. Of course, beverages and snacks will be available at the break sessions during the conference.
How can someone contact me?
The residence hall rooms will not be equipped with voicemail. However, non-emergency messages will be posted on a board in the lobby of your residence hall and/or at a message board, near the hospitality table in the Atrium of the D.J. Lombardo Student Center.
- To leave a non-emergency message, contact the Host Committee at (216) 397-6630.
