Immersion Component
Women and Men For and With Others
In this component, participants will encounter an orientation to the commitment to justice at the heart of Jesuit education through a national immersion trip to a developing country (most likely Nicaragua or El Salvador), accompanied by preparation discussions and follow-up analysis for participants. The “pilgrimage” experience is designed to encourage a deeper understanding of the faith and justice emphasis of Jesuit education, Catholic Social Teaching, and the need to integrate faith with the lived reality of the world.
Although it may either precede or follow the experience of the Exercises, participants should be encouraged by their Campus Coordinator to reflect on the connections between the immersion, the Exercises, and their professional work. This experience might be done with a group of professionals from the participant’s own institution or with a nationally-sponsored group of ICP participants.
Note: Participants who have already made such an immersion trip with a group of professionals from their own campus would not be expected to do so again. |
