If you have received messages from “John Carroll Univ. Support” with the subject “John Carroll Univ. has Activated your New Mail Services” or “John Carroll Univ. First Junk Email Safely Quarantined” on or close to June 1st, they are legitimate.

These messages not a phishing scam or virus attempt.

You will want to log into the Postini system to configure the email filtering to your personal preferences.  Help can be found at: http://www.postini.com/services/help.html

INCREASED PHISHING/SPAM ATTACKS
There is a Phishing/SPAM message being sent to the John Carroll community, asking for your username, password and DOB, Country or Territory.  DO NOT RESPOND or send any personal information to this message.  The Information Technology Services department has blocked any future delivery attempts from this sender.  John Carroll University or the Information Technology Services department will never ask for this kind of information from you via e-mail.
