IS Backup Schedule
Data We Backup
Your H:\ & O:\ drives & Your Roaming Profile
Information Services routinely performs backups of your
data stored on our network drives. That includes your
H:\ drive (generally your My Documents folder), your department
O:\ drive, and your roaming profile (your personal settings for
windows and your applications). We perform 2 types of backups,
tape backups and snapshots.
Snapshots take a picture of your network data
without taking the network drive offline. This backup is done to
another disk drive.
Tape backups are a more involved and lengthy
process and thus are more labor intensive to restore. They are
done offline and are created primarily for emergencies and disaster
recovery occasions.
You are responsible for backing up any of your data not
stored on your H:\ drive and their O:\ drive.
Note: Storing documents and applications on your
desktop can cause your roaming profile to become corrupt and
this may lead to the lost of some of your data.
The IS backup schedule follows:
- Tape backup (typically performed between 12:00
Midnight and 8:00 AM):
Nightly backups (Monday-Saturday) are retained
