Worms and Viruses
Worms and viruses remain a continual threat to your PC, and Microsoft frequently releases patches to its software to protect against them.
Before you bring your computer back to school in January, check for, and apply to your PC, new critical Windows Updates and the latest virus definitions. This will help protect your PC from viruses and by keeping your pc updated you will avoid potential remediation fees. CDs with the latest critical Windows Updates and the campus' anti-virus software are available from the Information Services HelpDesk on the 4th floor of Rodman and through your RA.
Applying the updates is especially critical if you are going to connect a brand new PC to the JCU network. New systems rarely have the most current Windows Updates or virus definitions.
In the event that any PC is found to adversely effect network resources, (including but not limited to viruses and worms), all ports in the offending residence hall room will be shut off until the offending PC is verified by the Information Services Department to be compliant. The owner of the PC will be charged a $150 remediation fee. For connection instructions, click
