"A valuable way for both spiritual directors and supervisors to learn the various dimensions of supervision is to gather together to discuss, pray, practice, and reflect on the purposes, process, and skills of individual and peer group supervision" (Maureen Conroy, Looking into the Well).
You are invited to attend such a gathering, to be held at John Carroll University this summer. Many of you have already read and studied Maureen Conroy's book. We will use this as our text, and hopefully you will find a re-reading of it helpful. However, our meetings will focus upon how the ideas presented in the book have been concretized in your own experience with directees and/or those you have supervised. Much of the learning will occur as you share your own experiences with each other. If you want a clearer sense of how the meetings will progress, consult Looking into the Well, pp. 233-236.
Hopefully, experienced supervisors, especially those who have worked for the ISI over the past four years, will be able to attend, as well as those who will be learning the ropes for the first time. Those with more experience will be able to put flesh on the various practices and concepts outlined in the book.
