Lucien A. Aubé French Scholastic Award

THE LUCIEN A. AUBÉ AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT IN FRENCH

This award is a four year excellence award, presented to a graduating major, who, during four years at John Carroll University - this may include a Junior Year Abroad in France or a Francophone country - has demonstrated consistent outstanding scholastic performance and continued interest in the activities of the French section.

This award, formerly known as the Scholastic Achievement Award for Four Years of Excellence in French, has been renamed the Lucien A. Aubé Award for Outstanding Achievement in French, in honor of professor of French Dr. Lucien A. Aubé, who was a full-time faculty member of John Carroll University from 1950 until 1990 and Chairman of the Department of Modern Languages from 1973 until 1986. Dr. Aubé's Ph.D. degree was from Case Western Reserve University. In 1980, Dr. Aubé's contributions toward the diffusion of the French language and culture were recognized by the Minister of Culture of the French Republic who named Dr. Aubé Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques.
