THE LUCIEN A. AUBÉ AWARD
FOR OUTSTANDING SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT IN FRENCH
This award is a four year excellence award, presented to a graduating
major, who, during four years at John Carroll University - this may
include a Junior Year Abroad in France or a Francophone country -
has demonstrated consistent outstanding scholastic performance and
continued interest in the activities of the French section.
This award, formerly known as the Scholastic Achievement Award for
Four Years of Excellence in French, has been renamed the Lucien A.
Aubé
Award for Outstanding Achievement in French, in honor of professor of French Dr. Lucien A. Aubé, who was a full-time
faculty member of John Carroll University from 1950 until 1990 and
Chairman of the Department of Modern Languages from 1973 until 1986.
Dr. Aubé's Ph.D. degree was from Case Western Reserve University.
In 1980, Dr. Aubé's contributions toward the diffusion of
the French language and culture were recognized by the Minister of
Culture of the French Republic who named Dr. Aubé
Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques.
