PURPOSE: The fund is maintained to assist a JCU German major or minor, or a French or Spanish major with the financing of his/her summer, semester or year abroad in order to deepen and broaden his/her linguistic and cultural background. Such use of the fund is most representative of Dr. Fabien’s humanistic and cosmopolitan educational ideal and a worthy monument to his contributions to the education of countless JCU graduates. The grant is offered every academic year.
CONTRIBUTORS: In the early 1990s, friends and alumnae/alumni of Dr. Fabien, and of the German Section of the Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Cultures, contributed these funds to be applied exclusively to further the educational goal of a JCU German language major. Today, the Fabien scholarship is open to both majors and minors in German. It has also been made available to majors in French and/or Spanish. |
