Major in French: 36 credit hours, including 315,
325, and 326. May include one course (3 cr. hours) with French or
Francophone content from International Cultures (IC) or an approved
cognate area. Comprehensive examination.
Major in French Studies: 36 credit hours, including
315, 325, and 326. May include up to 4 courses (12 credit hours)
with French or Francophone content from International Cultures (IC)
or approved cognate areas. Comprehensive examination.
The major in either French or French Studies may also include IC
201 or IC 301.
Students seeking licensure in secondary education are encouraged
to complete ML 308, Teaching Languages, which may count for a cognate
area. They should also consult the JCU Dept of Education & Allied
Studies as early as possible for any additional requirements.
Minor in French: 21 hours, beginning at any
level.
Courses numbered 301-302 are strongly recommended for all majors
and minors. “Bridge courses” (those numbered 300 through
320) are also strongly recommended to improve language skills before
taking on more advanced language, literature, and culture courses. |
