Julia Karolle-Berg,
Ph.D.,
Assistant Professor of German
Julia Karolle joined the JCU faculty in 2002. She received
her A.B. in German and Political Science from the University
of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and M.A. and Ph.D. in German from
the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A native of Michigan,
she has spent over four years in Germany and Switzerland,
including stays in Berlin, Freiburg, and Basle. Dr. Karolle
teaches all levels of German language and culture at JCU,
including courses in business German, Holocaust literature,
and contemporary German culture. Her research focus is on
the 20th-century, with interests that include narrative
theory, detective novels, and Holocaust literature. Dr.
Karolle is Section Coordinator for German Studies at JCU,
Faculty Advisor of the German Club, and Co-coordinator of
Modern European Studies.
