THE J.W. VON GOETHE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING
SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT IN GERMAN
This award is presented to a graduating German major who has consistently
demonstrated outstanding scholastic performance and a vivid interest
in the activities of the German section.
The award is named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1831),
the poet, statesman, and scientist whose thoughts and ideals expressed
in his writings epitomized the positive, humanistic outlook of German
Classicism..
