Preparing Your iPad for the Course

Your iPad is already prepared and ready for you to use. In addition to the built-in iPad apps (software), you may find other apps installed, depending on your course.

If you would like to install additional apps to the iPad you must do so using the App Store app on the iPad. You must not install apps using iTunes on a computer. Using iTunes on the computer to sync apps to the iPad may result in erasure of the apps installed by the University.

If you need to connect the iPad to iTunes on your computer, make sure that iTunes is set NOT to auto sync your apps. To check follow steps 1 through 5 below. Otherwise, skip down to the next section (Setting up the email function for apps)

1. If you are in iTunes store view, click the Library button (upper right)

If your log in to jcuwpa2 is successful, your screen should appear as illustrated below. If there is not a check mark next to jcuwpa2 as illustrated below, you will need to repeat the log in procedure starting with step A above. Once you have logged into jcuwpa2, the iPad should retain that log in for future use, even after the iPad is turned off. If it should happen that the iPad does not retain the log in, then you will need to repeat the procedure outlined above.

In the top image the word pages was used to search and in the bottom image the word numbers. This particular iPad already has the app Pages installed and this is indicated by the dimmed gray button labeled INSTALLED. In the case of the Numbers app, it is one of the apps that has been purchased already with the active iTunes account. However, the Numbers app is not installed on this iPad. Touch the INSTALL button to install the app on the iPad (you don't need to pay for it since you have purchased it previously).
