Dear Teacher of French, Spring 2010
The Maison Française de Cleveland announces it will again hold a competition (Le Concours) for students of high schools in Cuyahoga County and selected surrounding areas, and for the students of teachers who are members of the Maison Française de Cleveland.
The details of eligibility, dates (concours Saturday, March 20, 2010, awards banquet Sunday, April 18, 2010), places, prizes, etc., are given on the enclosed eligibility guidelines together with entry blanks for the contest.
The Maison Française contests were instituted to stimulate interest in the study of the French language. We trust that they will continue to create enthusiasm for the study of French in Cuyahoga County and immediately surrounding areas.
We consider the monetary prizes we are offering again this year to be sums substantial enough to encourage students to enter the contest. In light of this, we also believe the winners in the contest should be present to receive their prizes. For this reason:
WINNERS OF PRIZES AND THE TEACHERS WHO RECOMMENDED THEM ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND THE AWARDS BANQUET AS INVITED GUESTS OF THE MAISON FRANCAISE. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT PARTICIPANTS KEEP THE DATE OF THE AWARDS OPEN.

Please feel free to circulate this letter among your teacher colleagues in your school and neighboring schools in the area. The Maison would like to involve as many schools as possible, and welcomes your help in identifying potential participants, who may or may not be on our mailing lists. If you are not already a member of the Maison Française, will you give serious thought to joining our ranks? One privilege of membership is the right to present one of your best students besides the one presented by your school. And this privilege applies even if your school is outside of Cuyahoga County.
