Study Abroad

It is strongly recommended that students gain an international experience by studying abroad, preferably for a semester or year.  Ample opportunities exist in the language department for international study, whereby students follow the language of their choice, take core courses in English, and reap the benefits of cultural immersion.

All majors of French, German, and Spanish should make sure to apply for the René Fabien Scholarship, which is designed for use toward study-abroad costs. Application deadline is in March.

Classical & Modern Languages & Cultures and the office of Academic Advising will help you find the Study Abroad Program that is right for YOU !

  • Our Department sponsors several opportunities for study abroad. In addition, we will help you in affiliating with foreign study programs from other colleges and universities.

  • Our Department works closely with the JCU Center for Global Education in preparing students for their foreign study experience.
  • Come to our Classical & Modern Languages and Cultures annual "Meet Your Major". The program includes discussion of study abroad opportunities and is scheduled in October of every academic year.
