The following databases will help you to discover what books and articles have been written on a wide variety of topics. They can also help you discover topics that might interest you for speeches and for writing assignments. Many articles are available in the library in paper copy and/or electronically. Articles and books that are not available in Grasselli can be ordered through interlibrary loan. Remember to get your library barcode validated at the circulation desk. Once this is done, you can check out materials, request OhioLINK books online, and access our online databases from off campus.
For background on current events:
The CQ Researcher.
A weekly publication covering important current events topics. Excellent source for opinions by experts, identifying issues, background, annotated bibliographies, and web sites. Helpful for persuasive and argumentative speeches and papers!Factiva.
A source for business information and media studies. It includes the daily full texts of major national newspapers.LexisNexis Academic.
Full-texts of national and local papers, including The New York Times and The Plain Dealer. Another excellent source for persuasive and argumentative speeches and papers.
For books:

Search by author, subject, keyword, or title for books and other materials owned by the Grasselli Library. Other materials include such things as videos, CDs, microforms, and titles of periodicals.Ohiolink Central Catalog.
Is the book you need unavailable in Grasselli? Do you need more books on a topic? Check this combined catalog of over 80 Ohio academic libraries. You may request books online with a validated library barcode.
For articles:

This database can save you time. It contains something on almost any topic; a mix of magazines, scholarly journals, and newspapers; and full texts of articles. In short, it’s a good place to begin your preliminary research.A to Z Electronic Journal List.
You may not always find a link to the full text of an article in the database you are using. Check the A to Z list to discover if the full text is available in another database. The librarians are familiar with all the ways to track down articles. Don’t hesitate to ask for help.
