Finding JCU Graduate Theses and Essays
Location
Bound copies of theses and essays submitted to the Graduate School are housed in the Grasselli Library. They are located in the low shelving area on the third floor near the curriculum materials and electronic classroom.
Arrangement
Theses and essays are interfiled. They are arranged: 1) alphabetically by broad subject areas, 2) within subject areas, chronologically by years of acceptance, and 3) within years of acceptance, alphabetically by authors.
Searching by a title or author
If you know the specific title or author of a thesis or essay, first look up the title or author in Carrolline to find the department and year of acceptance. You will need this information to locate the item on the shelf. See information on arrangement above.
Searching by subject
Items in the collection are arranged in the following subject areas for browsing:
Biology (Biology M.A.; Biology M.S.)
Chemistry (Chemistry M.S.)
Education (Education M.A.)
English (English M.A.)
History (History M.A.)
Humanities (Humanities M.A.)
Mathematics (Mathematics M.A.; Mathematics M.S.)
Physics (Physics M.S.)
Religious Studies (Religious Studies M.A.)
Carrolline can also be used for subject searches of essays and theses. Although Library of Congress Subject Headings have not been assigned to theses and essays, you can find pertinent key words and key phrases within their titles by using the Key Words search option and restricting the Material Type option to THESIS/DISS.
You can also generate a title list of theses and essays in Carrolline by choosing the LC Call Number search option and entering the appropriate subject code as it appears in the parentheses above.
Circulation
Theses and essays can be checked out for 28 days.
