This tour focuses on Classism. Classism is the segregation of people based on their social status. It is definitely present in our society today because there are always three different classes, the wealthy, the middle class and the poor. The poor people need the most help and most of the time the people in the top class are too concerned with their wealth rather than others. There are many places in Second Life that try to help out the “poor” people by giving them the basic necessities.
This tour focuses on the social justice issue of heterosexism. The tour visits four locations within Second Life where alternative sexual orientation is not only accepted, but also encouraged. We take interested avatars all over Second Life, starting with a support group and moving to a networking site, a Christian Church open to all sexual orientations, and finally ending the tour at the Gay History Museum. Overall, this tour is very informative about real life issues faced by GLBTQ while also taking a look at the pride which surrounds these lifestyles.
This tour takes you through the times of racism. Racism is a horrible part of our everyday lives that we all have to deal with. Second Life sites help to educate us on happenings in the past to learn about the history of racism, and hope for the future to end it all together. Starting all the way back at slavery, this tour shows things from how slaves once lived, to how someone who would have been discriminated against years ago, now is the leader of our nation.
