Until recently, MathView was marketed by Waterloo Maple, Inc. In the summer of 1999, the MathView product was sold to WebPrimitives, LLC, of Cambridge, MA, which plans to maintain and update the software and market it under the name LiveMath. At the time of this writing (October, 1999) the former MathView version 2.5 is no longer being sold, but a new beta release of LiveMath version 3.0 is imminent.
In order to develop interactive web pages using this software, you need to purchase a copy of LiveMath Maker, the new version of MathView. However, in order to view and interact with web pages that have been written by someone else (such as the pages that we have described in our paper and the others on our web site), you need only the free LiveMath plug-in, which is available from WebPrimitives, at http://www.livemath.com. If you have never installed this plug-in on your computer, you will need to download and install it. This needs to be done only once.
You can tell if you need the plug-in by opening one of our Interactive Mathematics pages, such as Product Rule. If you see mathematics on that page, then read no further--your computer already has the plug-in installed. On the other hand, if you see a blank area instead of the mathematics, then you need to get the plug-in--so read on!
Versions of the free LiveMath plug-in are available for Windows 95/98/NT, Windows 3.1 and Macintosh, at http://www.livemath.com.
