My favorite part of being involved in swarm research is being able to work directly with Dr. Palmer and Dr. Kirschenbaum. They both believe strongly in the mentoring process in which the relationship of student teacher becomes more of a relationship of cooperating team members. Being able to be involved and accepting the opportunity to be involved in the swarm research program has been one of the most influential decisions in my life thus far. I have been able to gain valuable experience towards my future career goal and I have been able to better understand what my career goals are.
My favorite aspect of being involved with the swarm research is the ability to experience new technologies such as AOP and finding a practical way of applying them to the swarm. Besides the technology aspect, the swarm research gives me a unique experience as a programmer. Typically, programming is taught as an individual experience. However, a sole individual cannot always write programs. This interaction with the other swarm members serves as a great growing point for me as a programmer. I feel that I will be better prepared because of this experience after college.
