Annual Events

The Dr. Shirley S. Seaton           Cultural Awareness Series

For nearly a decade, the OMA has offered this lecture and programming series to John Carroll University. The purpose of the series it to bring outstanding, cutting-edge scholars, artists, and programs to the University and surrounding area that helps people better understand and celebrate diversity as an integral facet of the greater community. All events, unless otherwise stated, are free and open to the public. Past presenters have included: Cornel West, Coretta Scott King, Antwone Fisher, Tim Wise, Consuelo Kickbusch, Roberto Suro and Andrew Young.

Multicultural Affairs Achievement & Awards Banquet

This annual event, held every spring, recognizes students of color for their outstanding academic, athletic, leadership and service accomplishments. In addition, the OMA works with other offices, organizations and departments to improve awareness of and appreciation for racial and cultural diversity for the university community. Through direct service to students, and by providing a positive influence on the general campus climate, the OMA seeks to enhance the recruitment, retention, success, and graduation rates of students of color.

Celebration of Culture

The OMA strives to bring cultural enrichment to John Carroll University and the local community throughout the year in our celebration of the following cultural heritage months and holidays:
