Atrium in The Dolan Center for Science and Technology provided
a grand setting on Friday evening (May 20) for a grand event --
John Carroll's annual Alumni Awards dinner. This year's honorees
were:
Sam Wetzel '52 (right) longtime class columnist,
Silver Quill (presented by Jerry Pockar, editor of John Carroll magazine)
Vincent A. Chiarucci (left, below), chairman of
the Presidential Search Committee, Alumni Appreciation Award (presented
by Rev. Timothy Shannon, SJ, VP of Development and Alumni Relations)
Recipients of the Alumni Medal (our highest award) --
John M. Boler '56 (2nd), founder-The Boler Company., past
JCU director, presented by Albert J. DeGulis '56
John G. (Jack) Breen '56, past chairman-JCU Board,
who was unable to be present (award presented by James L. Mason
'60 and accepted by Al DeGulis)
Leonard M. Calabrese '68 (below, 3rd), executive
director-Commission on Catholic Community Action (award presented
by Robert C. Maynard '58)
Mary Power Patton '83 (below, 4th), PR professional,
advisor to the Entrepreneurs Association (presented by J. Gordon
Priemer '64)
Also honored were Sarah L. Wagner '05, Beaudry Award, and Connor
E. Mullin '05, Millor Orator (awards presented by Ryan Daly '99,
director of Alumni Relations). The Alma Mater was sung by "Rhapsody
Blue," JCU's a capella choir (left) and closing remarks were
given by incoming Alumni Association President Paul Hulseman '82
(above, right)
