Channel 3 News segment
 |
The opportunity to "immerse" oneself in other communities and cultures is attracting increasing interest at JCU -- and in the news media, too. Recently (Mar 3) several students appeared on a WKYC Channel 3 television newscast prior to leaving for the South this week to help people devastated by Katrina. (See link at lower left.)
This spring
and summer more than 125 students as well as numerous faculty members
and administrators will immerse themselves in communities ranging from Cleveland to Illinois, South Carolina, West Virginia, Florida,
Louisiana, Mexico, Ecuador and El Salvador.
On Feb 26 in St. Francis Chapel many
of these participants joined others who took part in a hurricane
relief effort and a faith-based civil rights pilgrimage earlier this
year to receive a "commissioning blessing" from the university's
President, Rev. Robert L. Niehoff SJ.
Sponsoring the immersion experiences
are Campus Ministry, Center for Community Service, Latin
American Studies Concentration and Honors Program.
