'43 alum recalls John
Carroll's |

  On
Jan 17, 63 years ago this week, John Carroll conducted its first accelerated
graduation ceremony so half of the senior class could fulfill military
obligations to the US armed forces that were in growing need of replacements.
Bruce Thompson (at right as a sophomore), one of the university's
most beloved and loyal alumni, is a member of that group. At a reunion
a few years ago, he recalled the event, as well as other classic memories
