JCU vigil marks 5th anniversary of 9/11 terrorism |
| JCU students
gathered on the Quad late last night for a vigil in remembrance of 9/11/2001,
the day "when everything changed." They heard brief reflections from Sophomore
Class President Molly Delaney, Student Union President Dan O'Malley and
Religious Studies Professor Thomas Schubeck SJ. Father Schubeck observed how people have searched for meaning in the aftermath of 9/11, finding meaning in God, in the heroic rescuers and in those who work for justice and peace. "What has happened to you in the years since 9/11?" he asked. "What is it in your life that gives you meaning?" Members of the University Choir sang, the students lit candles and watched as the ROTC color guard lowered the flag on the Quad to half-staff. |
