addresses 1st Yr Seminar
on Constitution Day

First-year students filled Donahue Auditorium as Asst Political Science Prof Lauren Bowen introduces the Constitution Day program

In celebration of Constitution Day (Sept 18), students taking the First

Year Seminar (FYS) heard a presentation by the Honorable Stephen Ostrach, Trial Court Justice in Massachusetts and an adjunct faculty member in political science at JCU.

"I want to use the general idea of the body, the subject of the First Year Seminar to help you see the difficulty in applying a fixed Constitution to a changing world," explained Judge Ostrach, who went

on to discuss the Constitution,the general idea of the body as it applies to making Constitutional decisions, and recent examples of Constitutional litigation that require selecting specific conceptions of the body.
