'Busted Halo' founder Mike Hayes keynotes Ignatian Day 2005 |
![]() |
The
Word -- both with a capital “W,” as in Scripture, and with a small “w,”
as in the kind of discourse for which the Jesuits have always been known
-- constituted the theme for Ignatian Day last Friday (Jan 14), a day when
the JCU community comes together to contemplate what it means to be a Catholic
and Jesuit university.Following an introduction by Howard Gray SJ (above), Assistant to the President for University Mission, Mike Hayes (left), who founded the Busted Halo online magazine for Paulist Young Adult Ministries, delivered the keynote. Hayes, a graduate of Fordham, began by congratulating JCU’s Director of Campus Ministry John Scarano for receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Catholic Campus Ministry Association. Noting that Scarano is recovering from emergency surgery for a herniated disc and was unable to receive his award last week in San Antonio, Hayes reported that the CCMA convention gave Scarano a standing ovation.
