| JCU
hosts Jesuit universities in national conference on philanthropy |
 |
More than 250 representatives
of alumni, public affairs and development organizations from all
28 Jesuit universities nationwide concluded a 3-day conference
at John Carroll today (Jun 13) aimed at "Developing a Culture of
Philanthropy." |
 |
Thomas E. Scheye, Distinguished Service Professor of English and former Provost and Academic Vice President at Loyola
College in Maryland, delivered an insightful, often humurous, keynote
address for the meeting. Among other topics he discussed the real meaning of fiduciary responsibility and the relationship between strategic planning and fundraising.
"These are hard times for higher education and hard times are here to stay," Dr Scheye said. "We're in a permanently white water state."
