7. My impression of Sufism is
that it is individual, while Islam is general, encompasses the whole
universe. The knowledge and practice of Islam are not separate, and
the physical aspect of Sufism is not in Islam. Would you agree that
Sufism is not for everyone? |

8. I believe if you are not
pious you are not Muslim, but I think the type of piety in Sufism,
with very long fasting and very long prayer, is not common to everyone. |

JCU's Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies. He was introduced by Zeki
Saritoprak (l), Assistant Professor of Religious Studies. Following a discussion
of terms, including "Sufi" (it originally referred to a
"wearer of wool"), Dr. Karamustafa presented "portraits"
of two Sufis who were pivotal to the development of the movement.
